FLIR PRISM AI Software Recognized as Platinum Honoree by Military+Aerospace Electronics Magazine

Goleta, Calif. – October 21, 2024 – Teledyne FLIR, part of Teledyne Technologies Incorporated, announced today that its FLIR Prism® was recognized among the best by the 2024 Military+Aerospace Electronics (MAE) Innovators Awards. Votes placed by the engineering community recognized Teledyne FLIR as a Platinum Honoree in the Software category—the highest-level honor bestowed by the media outlet.

The 2024 MAE Innovators Awards celebrates outstanding innovation in defense and aerospace for the engineering industry. Every year the organization showcases and rewards companies, designers, and innovators who have contributed to the advancement of technology through their creative and impactful designs, respectively.

“FLIR Prism offers a best-in-class digital ecosystem that empowers perception engineers to improve their AI product performance and get to market faster using unique tools like the world’s largest thermal data lake for cutting-edge applications ranging from unmanned and counter-drone to air-to-ground and autonomous driving use cases,” said Dan Walker, vice president, product management, Teledyne FLIR. “It’s an honor to be recognized by MAE for pioneering the use of thermal, synthetic images, mobile processors, and more for more effective AI at the edge.”

Teledyne FLIR Prism is a purpose-built digital ecosystem delivering computational thermal imaging and decision support to the edge, involving the joint design of imaging hardware and computer algorithms to create novel imaging systems with unprecedented capabilities. To empower customers with both performance and flexibility, Prism provides an end-to-end computational imaging ecosystem, supporting a wide array of projects and custom development that run on the latest generation of low-power, embedded mobile processors.

The Prism ecosystem consists of five core components:

  • Prism AI is a collection of software libraries that enable classification, object detection, and object tracking operating on low-power embedded processors from Qualcomm and NVIDIA.
  • Prism ISP is a collection of image signal processing (ISP) software libraries that include super-resolution, electronic image stabilization, image fusion, turbulence mitigation, noise reduction, and more.
  • FLIR Conservator™ is a cloud-based data lifecycle management (DLM) subscription software that empowers distributed teams across the enterprise with image and video data upload, perform annotations locally or using a trusted third-party service providers curation, and quality control tools from a single cloud-based platform.
  • FLIR AVP, a size, weight, and power (SWaP) optimized advanced video processor, provides best-in-class artificial intelligence at the edge for thermal infrared and visible camera perception systems.
  • FLIR AIMMGen™ is an AI model generation service that enables the automated creation of AI/ML models based on ITAR-free training datasets. It leverages Teledyne’s proprietary synthetic data generation toolchain that can generate millions of machine-learning-ready examples of military and civilian objects in various environments, weather, and spectral bands.

2024 MAE Innovators Award winners are chosen by the qualified judging panel chosen by the editorial staff at Military + Aerospace Electronics. Platinum, Gold, and Silver honorees are revealed every fall.
