How Much Energy is in Your Valentine’s Day Candy? Craig Beals Uses FLIR to Find Out!

This Valentine’s Day, FLIR enlisted our favorite high school science teacher and Invisible Labs star, Craig Beals, for a special-edition, Valentine’s Day-themed science experiment! Is love really in the air this Valentine’s Day, or is it just a lot of sugar? Craig used a FLIR T640 to find out!

Using the power of chemistry (and sodium chloride!), Craig chose NECCO’s staple Valentine’s Day treat, Sweethearts, to show us how much energy (i.e., calories) the sugar content of these little candies can produce, and the results are quite powerful! Visualized by FLIR’s thermal imaging technology, watch the video to see just how much love (or sugar?) your favorite Valentine’s candy is putting in the air this year!
