FLIR Donates Thermal Imaging Cameras and Raises Money for National Fallen Firefighters Foundation

Today, FLIR, the Major League Soccer Portland Timbers, and Portland Fire & Rescue are working together for a good cause.

Before today’s Timbers' match at Portland’s Providence Park against the New York Red Bulls, FLIR employees and Portland Fire Department firefighters are collecting donations for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation (NFFF). FLIR is a proud supporter of the NFFF and their programs, which honor fallen firefighters, assist their survivors and aid in the prevention of line-of-duty deaths and injuries.

Firefighters use FLIR thermal imaging cameras on the job to gain a wider range of perspectives from multiple angles, helping them see their way through complete darkness and smoke. They also help firefighters identify hot spots, allowing them to remain oriented, locating and rescuing victims more easily, ultimately improving awareness and safety.

FLIR’s goal is to outfit every firefighter with a thermal imaging camera, helping them work more safely, resulting in more lives saved. As part of this goal, in addition to tonight’s donations collected at the Timbers game, FLIR is donating $15,000 in thermal imaging cameras to the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation to support their programs.
